LatinX at the Platinum

LatinX nights are held at the Platinum Club every other Friday or so, and are a great way to get your salsa dance and music fix. The Platinum is the home base of the internationally known Rumbanana Salsa Group crew and extended community.

We love the $1 well drinks (until 11pm) as well as the house specialty, the Rumbanana shot! (Although I personally enjoy a shot of good tequila, just fyi ... ) Cover is usually just $4, and occasionally there will be a free Casino Salsa lesson included. If you don't dance, don't worry - Casino is fun to watch. Keep an eye out for several couples dancing in a wheel (rueda).

You can dress up or down as you like, and the food is great - my current favorite is the chicken quesadilla. The best thing about LatinX night is the welcoming, friendly atmosphere - just introduce yourself to one person, and s/he will pretty much automatically introduce you to a couple dozen more. Jump into any photo opportunity - there is usually a camera circulating at some point in the evening - and check out the goofy pictures at latinxnight.com.

Latin X Night

Platinum is super awesome, and it features latin music (Salsa, Timba, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton) just about every other Friday... this is amazing. I've heard Platinum is one of the hot spots around the U.S. for Cuban Salsa dancing, too.

Great Dancing

I recently had my first club Platinum experience. Despite hearing rumors that it was "lame", and "not fun", I still decided to venture forth and try this club out. It was a two dollar coverage charge evening and I have to say was well worth it. The drinks are cheap, the atmosphere is fun, and there is always a DJ or live band so the music never ends. There are great places to dance at and if dancing is not your cup of tea there are booth and other places to just sit back and relax. For a fun night of dancing and mingling with a nice local crowd check this place out
