Come join us for the 2010 Bunny Hop on March 27th from 10am to 2pm. Have a "hopping" good time in the Pearl!

In its third year, the Pearl District Bunny Hop is coming offering kids and families fun, prizes and activities. A number of businesses in the Pearl—including Little Urbanites, Ben and Jerry's, Green Frog Toys, as well as adult-focused retailers like Bridgeport Brewpub & Bakery—will offer toys, treats, and storytelling. Little Urbanites is a popular spot along the bunny trail, where kids can create bunny ears and get their faces painted.

“It’s a really fun event, and it’s primarily for kids,” said Kim Sibley, owner of Little Urbanites. “But it’s grown into a bigger event to explore the Pearl—for kids and adults.” Peter Rabbit will make his appearance at Green Frog Toys.

Win Raffle Prizes at the 2010 Bunny Hop. Proceeds benefit Isobel’s Clubhouse, a family-focused program offered by Zimmerman Community Center.

Hanna Andersson

327 NW 10th Ave
Portland, Oregon

The "original" Hanna
The original Hanna Andersson was my grandmother. She had a way with babies and lived in Skåne near the Baltic Sea. Grandmother taught me the Swedish tradition of choosing the best quality she could find – and using things for a long, long time!

Hanna began with cotton clothes that I brought to America for my own children over 20 years ago, but it is dedicated to my grandmother, and the standard of quality that she represents to me – quality with love and understanding.

My baby son started it all
Yes, my son started it all. I began thinking seriously about a children's clothing business in America when I couldn't find beautiful quality pure cotton baby clothes like those I'd known in Sweden! After watching friends go wild over some soft Swedish cotton knits that we brought back to America, the big idea for our first little catalog was born. Late in 1983, our "best little children's catalog ever" was produced in Sweden in two whirlwind weeks, and the Hanna Andersson headquarters were in our garage!

Caring about children and their earth
The magic of Hanna Andersson isn't only in the products we make - it's deeply ingrained in giving back to our community. Did you know that a portion of every Hanna purchase goes to help children through donations that support children in need? Our HannaHelps Program continues the company's 20 year tradition of charitable giving by awarding yearly grants to hundreds of schools and nonprofit groups serving children across the nation. It also helps the environment through our offerings of organically grown cotton. Here's to a better future for all children.

Best of all, we let kids be kids
From day one, we've let kids be kids. For us that means butter-soft fabrics and energizing colors, comfy shapes that aren't too tight or too grown-up. And maybe best of all - our long-lasting quality is so terrific that little ones don't have to be careful about their clothes! What started as a passion for beautiful quality in children's clothing has grown up into an inspiration that guides the comfort and quality of everything we make.

Welcome to our world of softness. . .

Icebreaker Touch Lab Retail Store

1109 W Burnside St
Portland, Oregon

It has become de rigeur for foodies to know whence their table fare came. Now an outdoor clothing producer has opened its business wide so that consumers can trace their clothes back to their origin.

And it's not an oil well.

Unlike the outdoor wear that is made from oil-based synthetics, Icebreaker, a small outdoor-apparel business based in New Zealand, uses merino wool, a lightweight, strong and silky-soft natural fabric, for all of its clothes.

Merino, of course, comes off the backs of sheep. These particular sheep live the good life in the southern Alps of New Zealand, where the temperatures range from really cold to really hot. As a result, these big-horned beauties have evolved to have a super-fine, super-thick fleece. The fine fibres allow it to breathe in the hot summer months, while the thick winter coat keeps them warm.

Those fine fibres aren't itchy because they flex when they come in contact with skin.

Italian designers have long used merino for men's suits and fine sweaters, but now it is gaining a lot of traction in the active-wear world because it's so great at wicking moisture and holding warmth if you are caught in a downpour.

Lexidgg Boutique & Social Club

416 NW 10th Ave
Portland, Oregon

LexiDog Boutique & Social Club was founded in May 2002 by Portland native Suzanne Hein, and of course her Min Pin, Lexi. Suzanne's extensive experience as a Vice-President of Merchandising for a large regional retailer created the desire to continue her passion for retail with her own company. Her love of Lexi gave her the inspiration for LexiDog; a place where dogs are our children who deserve to be a little spoiled, as well as a 'social' place where parents could bring their dog to a fun, loving and safe daycare while they were at work, and enjoy 'social' activities centered around their pet.
